DIY // Indigo Pillows

This past weekend, I did a fun little project to style out the Ikea hack built-in bench I just shared on Monday, I made faux indigo mudcloth pillows using a bleach pen!  I love this super simple DIY!  Of course they are not as beautiful of the authentic versions on Etsy, but at a tiny fraction of the cost, about $10 each, they give the look!

All you need is:

Step 1: cut the fabric to the size of the pillow plus 1/2" seam allowance, plus a little extra, if you're using linen for shrinkage.

Step 2: Use a white pencil to map your design

Step 3: draw design with bleach pen. NOTE: Don't forget to put down a barrier on your work surface, I used my cutting mat.  Let set/dry.  I left one of mine overnight.

Step 4: rinse and let dry.  If you want a deeper white, repeat step 3.

Step 5: Iron and sew to back to make the pillow case.

That's it!  So simple and so cute for only a total of $15! (I already had the inserts!)

PS I also made the indigo tie dye pillow using this kit and following the instructions they give.
