Hurricane Aftermath

While we've been stuck in the apartment, very lucky to have power, watching movies, hurricane coverage and surfing the web, and this is what has been going on out there in our own front yard.  Even the end of our block was flooded last night at high-tide, definitely not something you see everyday in New York City.  Here are some very haunting photos from last night.  My heart goes out to all effected by the hurricane's destructive path.

Rising water rushes into a subterranean parking garage in the Financial District of New York.

Vehicles are submerged on 14th Street.

Firefighters look up at the facade of a four-story building on 14th Street and 8th Avenue that collapsed onto the sidewalk.

Streets are flooded under the Manhattan Bridge in the Dumbo section of Brooklyn.

Sea water floods the Ground Zero construction site.

FDNY inflatable boats travel along 14th street towards the East River on a rescue mission.

The New York skyline remains dark.
