Weekend Rewind

If you follow my blog, you know I've been wishing for a lemon tree for a few years, and that wish has finally come true.  Thank you, husband!

Saturday, my actual birthday, was an awesome day!  Started out at the Transit Museum, where they have lots of old subway cars, complete with vintage ads, my favorite!  They have lots of hands-on things for the kiddos and some really interesting history on building the subways, that even shed some light on what's going on with the 2nd Avenue Subway going in on our block.  After that, we headed to The Standard Biergarten for a few steins and a GIANT pretzel, then to The Jane Hotel.  Have you ever been to the bar at The Jane?  That was my first time, but not the last!  It was so beautiful and cozy, as we sat right next to the fire place.  Then we had dinner and one of my favorite places in the city, Tortilla Flats, where it's always a party, birthday or not.  Top dinner off with a round of complimentary birthday shots.  It's been so long since I had a proper, spontaneous New York night; I needed it.  I forgot how much I love this town.

Sunday, I dragged my hubby to look for a new sofa (yippie!!).  I think we picked one, but more on that tomorrow.  I do need to mention the amazing window frame display below at West Elm.  Reminds me a little of this post, so long ago.  How cool would it be to build a little room like that in a big open loft?  Obsessed.

Hope you all had a great weekend too.
