Red Carpet Picks (Academy Awards 2013)

While I loved many of the dresses on the red carpet last night at the 2013 Academy Awards, I was unimpressed by the lack of variety among choices.  As you can see below, I loved the sleek, sparkly black and silver numbers, but I would have loved to see more color and more bold silhouettes.  That said, here are my favorite red carpet looks from last night.

#6 - Halle Berry looked beautiful as ever in Versace.  With minimal jewelry, the clean lines of the dress did all the right things for the actress' body.

#5 - Stacy Keibler rocked a deco-inspired Naeem Khan gown.  The cut frames her amazing shoulders and statuesque frame perfectly.

#4 - Jennifer Lawrence looked perfect in Dior Haute Couture.  The color was sophisticated  but still had a youthful vibe, but the dramatic silhouette is what made this dress a standout.  She may have paid the price with a spill but she sure looked magnificent on stage.

#3 - The color of Jessica Chastain's Armani Prive gown complimented her skin and hair flawlessly, which is exactly how I would describe her body.  And the red lip was the ultimate accessory.

#2 - Kerry Washington was one of the few stars on the carpet that opted for color.  The Miu Miu gown stuck out in my mind not only for the color, but also for the exquisit embellishment on the bodice.

#1 - And my top pick was hands down Naomi Watts in Armani Prive.  The cutout was so unique, her upswept hair looked stunning next to the polished silver glitter of the gown.
