Side Table Makeover

I bought this side table outside my apartment, way back when I lived in the East Village, it's been seven years since her last makeover, it was that time again.  When I first bought the table it was a dark walnut wood, I gave it a light sanding and a few coats of white paint, so several years and several moves later it was pretty beat up.

The only before photo I have was from this (old) post when I first moved into my last apartment.

First I stripped her, which, if you've never done it, is much harder than it looks.  The one little piece of furniture took lots of striper and lots of scraping.  I planned on making it two-tone, but the beveled edges were really tough to strip and ended up dictating which parts were white and which were wood.

Then I taped it off nice and tight and used Kilz Primer along with Rust-Oleum Glossy White Spray Paint for the white paint.

Finally I stained the drawer faces and top with Minwax Pre-Stain and Minwax Poly Shades in Classic Oak and added some bold, brass pulls from Home Depot available here.

Major improvement!
