Weekend Rewind

This weekend we got to business checking a few items off my Summer Bucket List.  On Friday, we caught a free movie on the Intrepid.  This was by far the coolest outdoor movie venue I've been to.  The Intrepid is an aircraft carrier that was used in World War II, The Cold War and then by NASA.  After duty, the ship was destined for the junk yard, then it was restored and turned into the Sea, Air and Space Museum.  During the movie you are surrounded by a dozen or so fighter planes, the Hudson River in front of you and the skyline behind.  It was a really cool experience.

Saturday we took our first ride on the Staten Island Ferry and caught a minor league baseball game at Richmond County Bank Ball Park, a charming venue with incredible views of the city.  The Staten Island Yankees lost to the Brooklyn Cyclones in a showdown of the boroughs.

Sunday we woke up early to jump on the Metro North and spend the day in Beacon, New York.  I had grand visions of brunch, antiquing, the museum and views of the majestic Hudson Valley.  Then, the train wasn't running.  I was pretty bummed, so Kyle surprised me with a back up excursion to the wax museum, Madame Tussauds.  The Time Square attraction was pretty cheesy, but totally fun and worth the trip.
