DIY Oversize Leather Tassels

Haha, I found a way to incorporate tassels into a little boy room!  I've been working on the baby room little by little and my most recent project was some fun, color-adding oversized leather tassel curtain tiebacks.

I made them into curtain tie-backs for the baby room.

Supplies:

  • leather
  • rotary cutter
  • glue gun
  • ruler
  • marker
  • rope (depending on how you plan to use them)

Step 1: Cut leather into a rectangle, I am making two, so I cut about 20" long by about 8" tall.

Step 2: Cut the fringe.  Starting about 1" below the top edge, use the rotary cutter to cut strips about 3/8" wide (eyeball).

Step 3: Since I'm making two, I cut in half and cut two strips about 4" long and about 1/2" wide, this will be the loop at the top.

Step 4: Make the strip into a loop and glue at one end of the tassel.

Step 5: Roll and glue at edge.

Step 6: I didn't photograph this step, but tie your tassels to rope, depending on how you plan to use.
