Dream Home (Kitchen)

While out on maternity leave I've been watching a lot of HGTV, and I mean A LOT.  I watch Drew and Jonathan, and Chip and Joanna help couples buy a fixer-upper, then make it into their dream home.  I want that.  I want a home that I can put my stamp on and not have to live with dark granite or much worse, laminate countertops.  Last year I made over my rental kitchen, using some of the same inspirations as the photos below, but on a shoe string budget.  I've been picturing my dream kitchen, in all it's unlimited budget glory and here's what's on my list of must-haves:
  • Open, airy, lots of windows, preferably a door wall to the deck
  • white cabinets
  • white subway tile
  • contrasting modern light fixtures and hardware
  • big farm sink
  • slate or light wood floors
  • stainless steel appliances
  • rustic open shelving
  • a giant island with rustic wood paneling and waterfall quartz countertops
  • a breakfast nook for casual meals
