Weekend Rewind

Well, as this photo summary shows, I spent the entire weekend doing projects in the yard.  We're hosting a Cinco De Mayo celebration next weekend, so spring cleaning was in full swing.  The patio is looking fab, but I am most proud of the side table makeover in the bottom right photo.  I was going to do a before and after, but I realized that I didn't take a before shot.  Whoops.  I think I bought that table off the street 7 years ago, then crudely sanded it and painted it white.  It was chipping and begging for a makeover to make it gel with the rest of the new living room.   Very happy with all the accomplishments of the weekend.

Weekend Rewind

What a great weekend, it had a little of everything, friends, food, tidying, projects and sports.

I took my second Remember Forever photography workshop in Central Park, Macro Photography.  It was a more concentrated class, and I got to practice some of the concepts I learned last weekend in "Love Your Camera, Love Your Photos."  The class was great, with only three students, so a ton of one-on-one time and we got some fantastic photos around Columbus Circle.

The productivity continued with a lot of label-making.  Turns out I have about 40 storage boxes and  drawers around the apartment that need to be labeled!  I also started a new sewing project for a friend's wedding using some impulse printed jersey I bought a few months back and some leather I had hanging around. Saturday night we visited our friends for game night and tried out a new game, Sour Apples to Apples.  And we ended our weekend with a softball win on a field in upper Manhattan with an unbeatable view of the sunsetting over the Hudson River.

Weekend Rewind

As usual with my weekends, it was more productive than relaxing, but either way, it was a great weekend.

One of my new years resolutions was to take a photography class and a while back I bought a Living Social deal for two workshops from Remember Forever.  Saturday I took my first, the intro class, "Love Your Camera, Love Your Photos."  I cannot say enough good things about the class, I have had my camera for two years and taken a lot of photos and played with a lot of buttons, but I never knew what I was doing.  We were lucky enough to have the owner, talented travel photographer, Luke Ballard, as our instructor.  He packed so much information into the three hour class.  I left knowing how to actually use my camera and inspired to start practicing.  Saturday was exciting for Maggie too, she got a haircut.

The updates around the apartment continue.  Saturday we installed the new light fixture that I picked up at Ikea last week.  And Sunday, I made a Home Depot run and picked up as many flowers as I could carry to start brightening up the patio.  Also in the name of brightening the patio, I strung the cafe lights  from our wedding ceremony.  Finally, we ended the weekend with the first alfresco dinner under the newly hung lights.
