Outfit Idea // Velvet Trousers

My last holiday look.  My last post of the year.  We will be spending the next week in Michigan with our families and friends, taking a break from work and blogging.  But before I go, I want to share one last outfit, a comfy, cute New Years look.  I found this pretty pretty Free People top on super sale and paired it with cozy velvet mustard trousers.  The best best part of these pants, is that the have an elastic waist!  Score one for the Christmas cookies!  Paired with my favorite super-soft fur bomber jacket, this is look is perfect for a casual New Years.

Happy New Year!!

Midnight in New York

Monday we hosted our 5th New Years Eve Party and our first themed.  I shared the my inspiration board a few weeks ago, here and my invites here.   A few of our best friends came over, dressed Gatsby style and rang in the New Year.

I was really excited to debut a few new treasures, the gold goblets I used as vases, I scored while in Michigan, four for $8! and the brass candlesticks which weren't quite as great of a steal, but they are oh so pretty.

I played bartender, mixing up French 75s all night.  Here's the recipe, I shook them up with blackberries and added one for garnish.  They were so good, I may have had a few too many.

It was my first time setting up a photobooth.  I based the backdrop on this cute Kate Spade stationary.  Unfortunately I has some trouble with the remote shutter release, but the self timer did just fine.  Here are a few of my favorites.

My friend Christina and I, with the help of her super-talented boyfriend made a bunch of head pieces and the cute animal masks,

together with the giant glitter 2013 I whipped up, we had some fun and festive props.

It was a successful party and a fun night.

DIY Invitations (Midnight in New York)

Last week I shared my inspiration for Midnight in New York, the 1920s themed New Years Eve party we are hosting.  Today, I'm excited to share the Deco-spectacular invitations I designed.

I used this DIY post to create gilded liners.

I added one of my favorite details to the outside of the envelope.  Thought it would be fun and in the spirit of the fancy-themed party to give all of our guests titles and to address the envelopes with said, silly titles.
