Wedding Wednesday (the Icing on the Cake)

Ever since I stumbled upon The Shoppe over on Poppytalk Handmade site I have been thinking about these AMAZING cake toppers.  Each piece is intricately cut from plywood and hand painted.  I think any of these look so perfect for a destination or an outdoorsy wedding or even a floraly birthday.

and speaking of intricate designs, yowzah!  The flower design on this cake is beyond fantastic!

Wedding Wednesday (The Cake)

While we were back in Michigan for the holidays we got several wedding tasks checked off the list, including a big one, the cake.

For us, this definitely wasn't the focus of our finances, so we wanted to find an economical option. We chose Connie's Cakes to make several unique cakes to cluster on a table.

I was happy to share a few beautiful inspiration photos I've been collecting. Both mine and Kyle's parents still had their cake toppers, so that was the jumping-off point. I just think the collection of vintage toppers like below is so sweet.

We've also been collecting cake stands to display the treats. I love the tonal cakes in varying textures like below.
