Refresh // Organization

In this crazy world of multi-tasking and Instagram pods (if you don’t know what that is, you don’t want to).  Finding time to organize my life is a major challenge for me, and I’m guessing you’re not on top of everything either, because, really who is?

I want to take you on my trial and error journey to organize everything from the photos on my computer (dread) to the bath closet (if you’re lucky enough to have a bathroom closet).

Here are my specific organizational goals for 2017:

  • Organize my digital life
    • Digital photos
    • Apps on my phone
    • Unsubscribe to all the junk emails I don’t want
    • Figure out a data storage plan that is cost effective and doesn’t hound me with alerts every day telling me I’m “out of space.”
  • Figure out a cleaning schedule.  As a working mom with a significant, it’s so easy to feel too drained to clean after I put Oliver to bed, but too overwhelmed to do it all on the weekend.  I want to make a schedule that amounts to about 15 minutes a day, plus a little time on the weekend for a clean and orderly house.
  • Make a working/life balance schedule.  This makes me sound like the lamest person in the world, but it’s easy for me to get sucked into my side hustles every single day after work, and any free moment on the weekends.  I need to schedule time to shut it off and time to really turn it on!
  • Tackle the project of making natural cleaning products.
  • Organize the pantry

It’s my hope that these big projects turn into second-nature habits and that life can run smoothly, efficiently and make a little more room for fun.  Can't wait to share all the details as I tackle these goals.

10 Beautiful Cleaning Tools

I can promise you that upon starting this blog, I never thought I'd be posting on well designed cleaning tools and supplies, but a lot has changed since they, and here we are 8 years later and that's the very topic I'm about to talk to you about.

Ever since I saw this beautiful photo on the feed of Amanda Watters, @mamawatters, I have been aspiring to have a cleaning arsenal as pretty as this.  With closets often in limited supply, it would be so wonderful to have items beautiful enough to keep in plain sight, instead of hiding my baby blue broom and dust pan in the garage.  But, it would be so convenient to keep one of the pretty choices below next to the fireplace to sweep up wood debris on the spot.   I wish I had thought of this during my apartment living.

here are 10 items I would happily stick in the corner when I'm finished, instead of taking it back down to the basement.

Utility Closet Organization Inspiration

It's the New Year, time for cleaning, purging and organizing and in my own studio tidying over the break, I came across a little One Kings Lane catalog I got in the mail last spring.  Funny enough, I kept it around (in a heap in the corner), because I loved some of the organization tips they offered, especially this utility closet make-over.  They made it so much more aesthetically pleasing by brightening it up and adding the wall paper, but they also added some genius tips.  Like the three below.

  1. Use trays to organize and group items.
  2. Use tension rods as dividers (so smart!)
  3. Utilize the door space.

That reminded me of one of my favorite posts from Little Green Notebook.  Maybe Jenny was inspired by the same catalog.
