It's hot, it's cold, it's hot again! I can't keep up. That's why these transition months are all about the layering. A little black dress goes a long way, when worn as the base of an outfit. You'll never believe what a steal this cocoon dress is Old Navy! It is so versatile, forgiving and flattering, plus it packs well, so it's a perfect piece for weekend getaways from spring through summer. I've paired the dress with my favorite blazer in the color of the moment, blush. Because blush is a non-neutral neutral, it adds the perfect pop of color, without screaming too loud. I wore the look with knee-high boots, but this look works just as well with booties. And finished it off with a light neutral bag and mirrored sunnies.
I know spring shopping season has been underway for months already, but New York only got the memo about one second ago. I am finally getting around to gathering my thoughts and shopping for the items on my spring wish list. This short list takes into consideration my quest to pair down to the things I love most, current trends, and which said trends have life beyond the season. I think these edited key items will live in my wardrobe for years and fit seamlessly with what I already own.
I'm excited to share this post on chic rain protection, brought to you by a special guest poster, Adam King a retail merchandising student at Syracuse.
The arrival of spring means the rainy season has also arrived. Having cute protection from the rain is key. I love having things like a great umbrella to bring out on rainy days that makes you not dread going on in the rain. Here are some of my picks for simple classic umbrellas to get you through any dreary weather!
Bubble umbrellas are such a chic classic proven by the Gossip Girl cast! I love the simplicity of bubble umbrellas and you can usually get them at a great price like this one from Target. If you want a little more character to your bubble umbrella, the Kissy Face umbrella by Felix Rey. Felix Rey co-found Lily Rafii may have used her husband business consultant Doug Band as inspiration for this flirty piece.
On days you are feeling more business, a plain black umbrella like the one below you can see Julia Engel from Gal Meets Glam using. I love a classic look and combining it with pastels or other dark colors gives a sophisticated look.
